THURSDAY, November 10, 2011 @ 6:30 p.m. ROCHESTER COMMUNITY HOUSE
We have taken on a new project for Thanksgiving and I am hoping that you will be able to assist us. The Rochester Area Jaycees will be providing 31 low income families nonperishable food baskets for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We are working with the Head Start Program in Rochester who will be providing the baskets to the families that are enrolled this year. We have had some very generous donations for this project but we still need a little bit of help. Prior to this month’s General Membership Meeting (November 10th) we will meet to stuff the baskets with all of the goodies that we have collected for these families. If you are able to help out, we will be at the Community House on Thursday November 10th at 6:30pm to unload and pack the baskets for the families. Our General Membership Meeting will be immediately following at 7:30pm.
Thanks to generous donations, at this point we will be providing each family with:
- Stuffing
- Mashed Potatoes
- Gravy
- Green Beans
- Corn
- Corn Bread
- Pasta Salad
- Jello
- Mandarin Oranges
- Canned Tomatoes
- Chicken Broth
- Pork and Beans
- Canned Sweet Potatoes
- One-three additional items from can drive donations
Please feel free to bring additional items for donation and we will work them into the baskets. The only request I have is that you please make sure that the items are not expired or will not expire before January 2012. I realize that it is not something we normally think about when donating canned food but there was quite a bit that was donated that we cannot use because of this.
I look forward to seeing you all on the 10th and hope you can stop by to help out.
